Hi!!!!  This is my first year at Mountain Vista and I am really enjoying myself.  I taught music for 33 years in Colorado Springs, Colorado before moving to Arizona in August.  My 25 year old son lives in Colorado Springs and my 18 year old daughter is attending college at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. My two dogs are the only family members who accompanied me here to Arizona.

I hope that the kids are enjoying music class.  We are doing lots of moving to develop basic timing and coordination skills as well as space awareness and positive group interaction skills.  If you visit the music room you will notice that there are no chairs or tables so that we can have lots of room to move. I would prefer that the kids experience the feel of various musical styles and notation.  Once the students have the feel in their bodies we will talk about the various written symbols found in notation.

We have started a Band which includes all of the wind instruments and this group is open to all 5^th, 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th grade students. Please let me know if you would like your child to study a band instrument.  It involves the rental of an instrument, two rehearsals a week, and practice at home.  We also have started a handbell choir.  There are only a few spaces left which can be filled by 4^th, 5^th, or 6^th grade students. Again, let me know if you want this experience for your child.
