My name is Chantel Sloan and I teach kindergarten at Oracle Ridge School. I grew up in Oracle and I went to school here, so I was happy to return to my hometown in 2004 to teach kindergarten. I love teaching kindergarten and it is my priority and my passion . . . I love the excitement of learning when there is freedom to create, explore, imagine, dance, brainstorm, experiment, and use all of our learning styles in a variety of ways. Before returning to Oracle to teach kindergarten, I spent two years in the little Eastern European country of Bulgaria (2001-2003) teaching English with the U.S. Peace Corps and I also taught 2nd grade for one year in Casa Grande. However, kindergarten is definitely my niche! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two golden retrievers, writing, reading, playing games, watching movies, being as creative as possible, going to church, and traveling to other countries during vacations from school to work in orphanages, schools, and small villages all over the world. This is Miss Rebekah, our wonderful class volunteer. Miss Rebekah comes to Oracle Ridge every day to work with the children and she is amazing . . . she teaches little lessons, she teaches center groups, she reviews learning and information with the children, she reads to and with them, she organizes lessons, and much more. The students love her and she has amazing teaching and classroom management skills! You will probably hear a lot about Miss Rebekah this school year! Rebekah attended school in Oracle from preschool-8th grade. She graduated from San Manuel High School in 2009 and her dream is to go to college to become a teacher . . . in the meantime, she gets to practice her skills in our kindergarten classroom, which she loves! In her free time Miss Rebekah loves to work with kids, watch movies and T.V., sing, write stories and songs, play with her brothers and sisters, go to church, and practice American Sign Language. She is definitely an asset to our classroom! |
